Our STORY so far...
Hello and welcome to STORY!
STORY began as a whisp of an idea in 2014, and since then, has grown into something bigger and more exciting than I could ever have imagined.
Pretty appropriate, seeing as STORY is all about unlocking the power of imagination.
Ever since I was a child I have loved books. I always took out the maximum number of library books allowed each week, and would read and return them the following week. I couldn't get enough of stories.
I loved exciting books, adventurey books, faraway books, impossible books full of intrigue and drama and oh-my-goodnesses.
And after reading all of those books, and falling in love with all of those books, I always felt a bit cheated. All the books ended when I didn't want them to.
I wanted the stories and adventures to go on forever.
So I set off on an adventure of my own. I began experimenting, drawing and writing, and at the end of this process I realised that I had come up with an idea that would help all children to create their very own stories.
And they could choose if they had endings or not, and when the endings, middles and beginning bits would be.
I decided to call my idea a Walk-in-Book because you and your child can open up this book, walk (or dive inside it) and begin to make up your own stories. It's part theatre/part book/part game. With all of the fun!
I created a map and characters and beginnings, and - best of all - all the freedom a child's imagination needs to start making stories.
Since I began my adventure I have won awards and been featured in The Guardian.
- Awarded a Seed Fund from The University Of The Arts, London
- Won Santander & Brighton University's Most Innovative Product, 2014
- Won UAL's Enterprising Individual award, 2014
- Awarded an enterprise growth grant from Brighton University
- Regional finalist in Business Women Excellence Awards, 2016
